Code Switch: Restorative Justice for Girls of Color (Code Switch) is actively seeking applications for its Executive Advisory Board (EAB). Code Switch is committed to establishing an Executive Advisory Board that is reflective of the diverse communities we serve. As an equal opportunity organization with a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ), we will proudly consider all qualified applicants.
Our organization’s mission is to advance girls’ rights by eradicating the educational inequities that prohibit them from reaching their full potential. Code Switch leverages multi-generational relationships to create pathways for impacted girls to heal, self-advocate, and lead. Our programs enhance their self-efficacy, potential for post-secondary success, and civic engagement skills.
Code Switch takes a unique approach to board leadership. Traditional hierarchies are eliminated: girls aged 14-24 form our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and take the lead in making key decisions that address the organization’s mission, strategy, and goals. They are mentored through this decision-making process by the women serving on the organization’s EAB. Each EAB member serves in both an advisory and mentorship role. Our advisory board members champion the importance of exceptional board leadership and believe that every organization needs a strong and effective board to fully realize its potential for good. Therefore, we are seeking individuals who are energetic and passionate about advancing girls’ rights by advancing critical mentorship, youth leadership development, and healing, as well as restorative justice.
Benefits to becoming a Code Switch Executive Advisory Board Member:
- Increase knowledge of critical mentorship and restorative justice
- Provide mentorship and leadership development support to a rising scholar and professional, thereby advancing girls’ rights through board service
- Opportunity to provide fiscal oversight to the organization
- Assist in ensuring the organization is well run
- Opportunities to collaborate and network with other professionals locally and nationally
- Provide tools that aid in advocacy efforts
- Bring your expertise to the collective well of talent on the board
In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, our Executive Advisory Board Members are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and are fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for Code Switch to advance its mission. A list of Board Member Responsibilities is available for your review.
