Code Switch Justice Complaint Process

We can help you make sure your student’s rights are followed when a police interaction occurs at school and/or you believe a restorative justice process is best for a school-based discipline matter. Take the following steps to receive support for your family.

Send A Letter to the Principal

Send a letter via email to your student’s school Principal to give them permission to speak with your advocate from Code Switch. Include codeswitchlv@gmail.com, the VP & counselor assigned to the student, and the Superintendent of the School District on the Cc line. Click on the “Sample Letter” button if you need help preparing one.

Communicate With Your Advocate

Keep your in-person meeting or phone call with your assigned advocate to talk through what happened and develop an action plan. Bring your letter from step two, any email correspondence between you and the school, and all other related information: behavioral reports, infinite campus discipline records, videos, etc.

Plan to attend and speak at the next scheduled School Board meeting to put your issue on record. This is an important step that cannot be ignored. Share your story with the people SO YOU CAN STOP SUFFERING IN SILENCE.
