MONTHLY MENTORED EXPERIENCES

MONTHLY MENTORED EXPERIENCES

Code Switch volunteers and community partners help us provide group mentored experiences for the girls and young women in the Code Switch Community.

GET INVOLVED

Whether attending a theme-based sister circle, having fun at a community outing, serving in a group or 1-1 mentored relationship, modeling the unique and culturally centered ways that Women and Girls of color engage in self-care through collective and community care on Sankofa Sundays, participating in a community event or service activity, or leading leadership and community engaged advocacy as part of an EquityMatterz justice forum, Code Switch mentors support girls as they lead and apply leadership in authentic settings.

Themed Sister Circles

Themed Sister Circles

These one-time, or themed-series circles are specially curated to hold affinity space with Girls and Young Women of Color!  One-part dialogue, and all parts love in action, each circle features creatively fun ways for the Code Switch community to have fun cultivate joy and radically love one another.

Sankofa Sundays

Sankofa Sundays

Typically held on Sundays from 2-4 PM, these monthly outings serve as a gathering place for Black Women who teach, lead, mentor, love, nurture, and care for Black Girls. Incorporating networking, mindfulness practice, story sharing, and occasionally our girls too, Sankofa Sundays are a great space to recharge and be inspired. In need of some sisterly love? Locate and like us on Facebook so you can find out about our monthly outings and join the sisterhood!

Special Events, Seasonal Institutes and Retreats

We offer a diverse array of programming. This includes hosting special events a few times each year. Seasonal Institutes offer young people and educators an opportunity to sharpen their restorative impulse by exploring equity  topics relevant to eradicating injustice for Black Girls and other historically marginalized and minoritized youth, and retreats are organized for Code Switch youth, team members, and volunteers to provide a fun and interactive way to engage in leadership development while also learning how to work as a team. Each emphasizes the power of connection, relationship, resiliency, wellness, and sisterhood.
